Silent K Koolies

A dog that helps you get the job done...
Past pups:
Several years ago, Delano & I decided we needed a dog to help with the stock work. We’d both been around the more common herding breeds & weren’t entirely keen on going that direction, so we turned to Google. Kelpies sounded like a good fit, however, we definitely did not have the level of work their drive requires & wanted something more reliably family-friendly.
Enter the Koolie! We did some reading & it seemed like it might tick our boxes, clicked around, and found a breeder (Avalon Koolies) nearby enough to make it happen. We brought our first girl, Cuda, home in 2015 & never looked back!
It wasn’t until we had our second female, Savvy, that we started considering breeding ourselves. I scoured Australia for good outcross lines to add to the Canadian gene pool & imported my first stud dog, Bruce. Bru & Savvy gave us 2 beautiful litters that went to both working & active pet homes, but unfortunately, he took off one morning & never came home.
From there, I was so fortunate to find my current boy, Hopper. He also came from Australia & provides nice outcross genetics as well as an incredible working talent. He’s sired 2 litters with Savvy & his puppies have shown incredible resilience, as well as an early maturity in work.
In 2024, we welcomed Koi to the crew; her dam is a pup from Savvy & Bruce’s first litter and her sire was an Australian import, both of who bring loads of stock talent to the table.
My main breeding goal is to produce resilient, balanced dogs that show a medium to high drive as well as an ability to 'turn off'. I choose breeding dogs that show the natural stock sense & independent workability that the breed is known for.
From our experience, they’re the perfect balance of all the herding breeds and are extremely user-friendly to put to work. Handler focused but not soft, drivey but not neurotic, excellent family dogs with an amazing off-switch that makes them fit into all kinds of working homes, as well as sporting & active pet homes. They are loose, upright workers who naturally go to the head, but are easy to switch to whatever method suits you. They work with some eye and are natural problem solvers who are able to work independently very quickly.
My dogs are proven workers, health tested & amazing family dogs. I've placed pups in homes where they are excelling in stock work, disc, agility, scent work, training demos, and more! Please reach out to hear about my upcoming litter plans & ask any questions you may have at all!
